Fish oil can reduce stomach ulcer

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid from fish oil was reported to have protective effect on NSAIDs induced gastric ulcer in rats.  Indomethacin (3, 10, and 30 mg/kg) induced gastric ulcer as a dose dependent manner when administered orally. DHA (3, 10, 30mg/kg) administered orally 2 hours before indomethacin treatment protected gastric damage significantly. The gastroprotective effect was comparable to that of omeprazole (30 mg/kg, an antacid medicine) administered 30 minute before NSAID treatment. The effect of treatment on ulcer was tested 3 hour after NSAID treatment. The gastroprotective effect could be partially due to decreasing level of LTB4 gastric levels that was increased by NSAID treatment.

Dealing with gastric ulcer

Imbalance between acid production in stomach and protection of stomach by mucosal layer (and prostaglandin concentration in stomach) primarily result in gastric ulcer. Bacterial infection (like infection by Helicobacter pylori), alcohol, smoking, stress can cause and aggravate existing ulcer. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) those decrease the pain by reducing production of prostaglandins (a type of lipid compounds that protect stomach) cause ulcer when used for a long time. Better sanitation can reduce bacterial infection. Stop / decrease drinking alcohol and smoking cigarette for ulcer to heal faster with medicine. Decrease stress by performing meditation, relaxing and talking to people who can help you to come out from stressful life. Medicine used in ulcers either decrease the production of gastric acid or neutralize the acid due to its alkaline nature. Antibiotics are also prescribed if bacterial infection in stomach is confirmed. Molecules/chemicals having similar structure like prostaglandin are also marketed for the treatment of gastric ulcer.

Taking care of skin

When skin is exposed to sunlight, vitamine D is produced. Vitamine D is essential for absorption of calcium from food and calcium is required for formation of teeth, bone etc. Calcium also has many other functions. Best time to expose your skin to sunlight is morning. You can go out without the fear of tanning your skin. In winter season, apply cold cream on skin to prevent it from drying. If you skin is more sensitive to skin, you may have to apply cold cream two times. When going out in day time or playing outside (under son) for long time use sun-screen spray or ointment to prevent damaging effect of ultra-violate ray of sun.  Sun-screen spray or ointment can prevent formation of vitamine D by preventing/decreasing the exposure of skin to sun-light. Be care full if you go for tattoo. You may develop hepatitis (liver disease) or AIDS if infected needles were used. Development of unusual spot on skin may indicate development of any disease like leprosy or tuberculosis. In this case visit a doctor.

Taking care of ear

Listening loud noise regularly may decrease hearing capacity. If you are travelling by flight, train etc. regularly then consider using ear plug. Improper use of ear plug also may damage ear. Do not enter match stick or similar thing for cleaning ear as it may damage ear. Cotton swab may pack some amount of the ear-wax while removing little of it. If required use ear removal kit, put few drop of it in the ear before sleeping.  The solution will melt ear-wax and remove it. Use of ear phone for long time may promote bacterial growth in ear. Everyday clean your ear with wet towel.

Take care of eye

Read book from safe distance (approximately 30 cm from eyes). Reading books from a shorter or longer distance may strain your eyes. Do not sit continuously in front of book/laptop/desktop. Take a break of 5 minutes after 1 hour reading. If your are wearing spectacle (as per doctors recommendation), then check your vision once in a year. Clear your spectacle regularly as dust deposited on it may hinder your vision and there may be bacterial growth around the deposited dirt. If you get scratches on lens of spectacle, then change the lens otherwise it may strain your eye. Do not touch your eyes with dirty hands and you may get infection. If dust fall on eye, then wash your eye, do not rub as it may damage your eye.

Exercise increases sexual function

Exercise reported increases sexual function and motivation in human and experimental animals. It may be due to increase in fitness and level of reproductive hormones. Even, exercise training improved erectile response in type 1 diabetic rats those exhibit lower erectile function. Recovery in erectile function was observed in aging hypertensive and normotensive rats using exercise and controlling diets.

How safe is online viagra?

I receive spam mail regarding availability of cheap viagra (sildenafil) on line. Many people get similar mail for increasing sexual function. Is online viagra safe? A study was conducted by Campbell et al. to determine the quality of online viagra. The researchers collected viagra samples from 22 sources selling viagra online for quality control tests. Maximum (77%) of the tested medicine were counterfeit and contained less active ingredient (30-50% of label claim).  Counterfeits did not provide product information leaflets, and appropriate safety warnings. It is very essential to check the credibility of source before buying viagra and other generic medicines online.
